Icelandic Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Svandis Svavarsdottir Stands Firm

Despite the threats and the anger of the whalers, the Icelandic Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture is standing firm on her decision to ban whaling for this season.
She said at the meeting today:
“Whales don’t fill any halls and there’s no one who boos or claps in a group of fin whales, but the parliament has entrusted me by law to look after these interests and that’s what I’m doing.”
The crew of the John Paul DeJoria remain just outside of Icelandic territorial waters in the unlikely event that the Minister’s decision is overturned.
