The Death of the Ocean is the Death of Humanity
October 12, 2023
“Diminishment of species is a direct cause of climate change, the inability of diminished plants and animals to sequester carbon. Overfishing is a major cause of diminishment of fishes, as is pollution and changing sea temperatures. The less fish, the less healthy the ocean. Phytoplankton also play a key role in keeping not just our ocean healthy, but our entire planet. If phytoplankton is removed from marine ecosystems, the entire planet will be unlivable by most species, including the human species; this is because phytoplankton provide oxygen, sequester carbon, and are a key component of food chains globally. The removal of phytoplankton means the death of the Ocean which means that should the Ocean die, so will we.”
