The Original Sea Shepherd Artist

In 1985, I personally commissioned artist Steve Cepello to do the artwork for the first Sea Shepherd Logo – the classic Humpback whale and dolphin logo. I paid Steve $500 of my own money for the artwork and it was worth every penny.

The Amazing Steve Cepello was a professional wrestler and an actor. As Steve Strong, he played Tarzan in a movie with Bo Derek. His greatest talent however is art and his paintings are amazing.]

This is also the logo that Geert Vons, one of the directors who unlawfully dismissed me from the Global Board claims to have created, despite only becoming involved with Sea Shepherd a full 15 years after Steve did the artwork in 1985.

And now by covertly filing a copyright for something he did not do, Geert Vons is party to suing Sea Shepherd France and myself claiming ownership of something that I conceived, and Steve Cepello designed in 1985.

In 1991 Sarah Borg did the original artwork for the Jolly Roger logo and flag which Geert Vons also claims is his original creation.

Geert Vons did not create these logos as he claims.

My ideas for the logos were drawn onto paper by Steve Cepello in 1985 and Sarah Borg in 1991.

Copying the artwork of another artist and then claiming to have been the sole creator is about as despicable as one can get as an artist. He should be ashamed but consider his actions over the past two years, I am assuming he will continue with his posturing and plagiarism.

Geert Vons and the other three directors are selling merchandise with these two logos and trying to prevent Sea Shepherd France from doing the same. They are also demanding that I cannot wear any merchandise bearing these two logos I created as they have denied me the right to do so. Of course,  I do so anyway.

These are powerful logos and it was my wish that they be movement logos not owned by anyone, but to be used by everyone. 

Geert Vons and his three fellow usurper’s see the logos as revenue producers. We see the logos as inspirational symbols for marine conservation activism.
