Sea Shepherd Global Directors Will Never Escape the Shame and the Stigma of their Craven Betrayal

Some have asked how do I deal with the lies and betrayal, of being stabbed in the back by men I once trusted, men who are where they are and who they are because I made it possible for them to have the jobs and the positions they now have?

Words always work for me, the opportunity to craft words together to explore, and to expose truth. Words help me to deal with the hurt of betrayal and words help me to understand the why, when and how these men deceived me.

Poetry helps to center me and to make sense of things that sometimes make no sense.

I do receive some comfort in knowing that whatever they do, they will never remove the stigma of their betrayal, the shame of their deceit and the eventual humiliation for their actions.

This is not about a personal betrayal against me, it’s a betrayal of everything that Sea Shepherd was built upon, our strategy of aggressive non-violence, our 100% opposition to industrialized commercial fishing, our policy of independence from government and corporate control, our freedom to speak the truth, to say the things that some people don’t want to hear and to do things that some people disapprove of. Sea Shepherd was built on confrontation, controversy, and courage. They want me to go away, to disappear and to be forgotten. As Alex Cornelissen said to Sea Shepherd France President, “our supporters will forget who Paul Watson is.”

Maybe they will but what they won’t ever forget is what we were, what we did and what we accomplished. The whaling ships rammed and sunk, the sealing ships blockaded and forced out of the ice fields, the whales saved from the Japanese harpoons in the Southern Ocean, the trawlers chased off the Grand Banks, the Drift netters rammed and drift nets destroyed, the Bluefin tuna released from the nets, the courage on the beaches of the Faroes and so many other incredible campaigns.

They won’t be able to do any of these things without offending their corporate sponsors and governmental partners. The have rebranded, seized our ships, our assets, our list of supporters and set themselves on a course into the mainstream of mediocrity. No more risks, just a nice secure monthly salary with benefits and job security.

I am encouraged by the loyalty of Sea Shepherd France, Sea Shepherd Brazil and Sea Shepherd UK (Now the Captain Paul Watson Foundation UK). I continue to work with Sea Shepherd France and Sea Shepherd Brazil and they continue to operate with true loyalty to our original objectives and strategies.

As a liar and a cheater,

How did he ever sink so low?

Alex be simple, Alex a dick,

Saw his chance to deceive.

Reduced to being a bootlick,

How could he be so naive?

The plagiarist sat on a wall,

About to have a significant fall.

All his lawyers and all their lies,

Despite that, his reputation dies.

To steal what he could see you see,

But all that he could see you see,

The Captain Paul Watson Foundation and Neptune’s Pirates have always maintained that there is NO SUCH THING AS SUSTAINABLE SEAFOOD. This is merely a marketing greenwashing phrase to enable dead fish sellers globally to continue business as usual, profiting from the demise of the oceans.
