Earlier in that year I had led a campaign to defend wolves in Northern British Columbia.

My 4-year old daughter, however, did her own campaign in Victoria while I was snowshoeing down the Kechika River to disrupt the government aerial wolf killing. Her mother Starlet brought a petition to Anthony Brummet, the British Columbian Minister for the Environment. Lani came with her. The minister dropped the petition into the waste bin and then said he did not want a child in his office, so her mother asked Lani to wait outside the office where we had friends and supporters.

As she left the office the was a TV news crew waiting to hear what the Minister would say, but just for fun, they asked Lani what was going on in the Minister’s office.

Lani looked straight into the camera and said, “That naughty man does not like wolves and he hates children.”

That little quote made it on the nightly news.

A week later the Premier asked Tony Brummet to resign.
