We are happy to report that the preparation for our ship the John Paul DeJoria is on schedule. The ship will leave drydock in Hull, England this month, fully refitted, painted and ready for action. The John Paul DeJoria is registered in the port of Black River, Jamaica and we will proudly be flying the Jamaican flag.

The ship will depart in late April for the port of New York where Captain PaulWatson will board our first campaign, Operation Paiakan – to the waters between Iceland and Greenland to defend and protect endangered Fin whales from Kristján Loftsson’s horrific harpoons.

Icelandic whaling is unlawful under the regulations of the International Whaling Commission (IWC). There is a moratorium on all commercial whaling and Fin whales are an endangered species.

Captain Paul Watson is looking forward to returning to sea once again. He is well aware of the risk of possible detainment due to Japan having issued a Red Notice against him ten years ago on the charge of trespassing on a whaling ship in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary (SOWS).

The International Court of Justice ruled in 2014 that Japanese whaling in the SOWS is illegal yet Japan is preparing to return to the Southern Ocean in 2024 and when they do, Captain Paul Watson intends to be there to greet them when they arrive.

Your monthly donations give us the security to operate, guaranteeing a stable income to cover the cost of ship and campaign operations. The more people that enroll in the monthly gift program the more secure and effective our campaigns can become.

Captain Paul Watson and the Foundation very much appreciate the strength you provide to our Foundation as a monthly donor. We intend to save the lives of Fin whales this summer and we will be able to do so because of your support and trust in us to do the job.
