Yacht Under Investigation For Shooting at an Orca

A crew of a catamaran are under investigation in Almeria for shooting and causing harm to an Orca near the Strait of Gibraltar.

The Captain Paul Watson Foundation urges the Guardia Civil to press charges and to set an example to discourage others from shooting at endangered Orcas.

These thugs need to be discouraged and severe penalties need to be brought against anyone who intentionally harms an endangered species.

Translation of the article from ElDario.es:

“The Spanish Guardia Civil identifies in Almería the crew members of the boat that shot an orca in the Strait Seprona initiating a criminal investigation in case the facts could constitute a crime — Crew members of a sailboat shoot a group of orcas in the Strait

The Civil Guard has identified the crew members of the boat that fired shots at an orca in an area near the Strait of Gibraltar, as reported this Saturday by the Armed Institute in a press release.

The investigation began after being informed through the internal channels of the Civil Guard and through the viralization of a video on social networks where the crew of a boat (recreational catamaran type), fired several shots or used other types of explosive devices. against an orca

Continuing with the investigations, the agents were able to determine that these people could be heading to a port in the province of Almería. For this reason, agents from Seprona and the Provincial Maritime Service established a surveillance and control device for territorial waters and ports in the province of Almería.

As a result of the device, the agents located said vessel in the port of Almerimar (El Ejido), for which the occupants were identified. Likewise, the ship was searched for pyrotechnic, explosive or any other type of elements that could be used, without finding any more.

The crew, which is going around the world, acknowledges the facts and shows full collaboration with the security forces, facilitating all kinds of documentation and registration of the ship.

Seprona initiates a criminal investigation in case the facts could constitute a crime under the Penal Code, as well as an administrative offense against the skipper of the boat and the person who used the pyrotechnic device to scare away the protected species.”

I am joining a civil suit against these people who assaulted the Orcas in the Strait of Gibraltar.
